How to reset the oil life light: steps by vehicle
After an oil change, the oil life reminder has to be reset by hand so the car starts counting again. The steps differ by model: some use the instrument cluster menu and steering wheel buttons, some a button sequence with the ignition on. Honda and Acura call it the Maintenance Minder; GM calls it the Oil Life System; Ford calls it the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor. Below are the steps for 126 models, each written from that model’s owner’s manual with the page cited.
Only reset it after the oil has actually been changed: the reminder is how the car tracks when the next change is due.
